The Help Album is a music album from 1995, bringing together many contemporary British and Irish artists, with all proceeds going to War Child's aid efforts in war-torn Bosnia and Herzegovina. It stood at the basis of the beginning of the expansion War Child’s international projects.
The concept of the album was inspired by John Lennon's comments about Instant Karma, that he wanted records to be like newspapers and be released as soon as they are recorded. Help was recorded on the Monday (4th September), mixed on the Tuesday and in the shops on the Saturday.
Released less than one week after more than twenty best bands and musicians in Britain entered studios all over Europe, this album had raised enough money to enable War Child to carry out aid projects in Bosnia Herzegovina.
The album, the brainchild of Tony Crean and Andy McDonald of Go! Discs, went straight into the charts at No 1 after one days sales! HELP is the fastest recorded studio album, as well as being the fastest Number One, taking a mere six days from when recording began on Monday to reaching the top of the charts the following Saturday.
This album was a result of everyone’s HELP.
