(UNICEF)

The latest yearly Unicef report was just released:

“As The State of the World’s Children 2005 makes clear, for nearly ONE BILLION children in the real world, childhood is starkly and brutally different from the ideal we all aspire to.

Poverty, conflict, and HIV/AIDS are among the most serious threats undercutting childhood across the globe. Individually and in concert, these threats are undermining the survival, well-being and future prospects of children – effectively denying them their childhood.

War Child Holland starts new project in Uganda

For the last 18 years rebel leader Joseph Kony and his rebel army have been making life very unsafe for children in North Uganda, kidnapping small children, boys and girls, from their villages. Every night thousands of children “The Night Commuters” walk from their villages to the local towns, fleeing from the rebels and to find a safe hiding place for the night. The children of North Uganda live in constant fear. War Child Holland has therefore started a new project in this East African country.
