With again a fantastic line-up, including artists like Ali B., Acda & de Munnik, Blof, Marco Borsato, Di-rect, Girls Wanna Have Fun and Peter Heerschop; the artists asked for awareness and support for the countless number of children who still live in the harsh circumstances of war and for the work of War Child. Live Peace Sign buildingTheme Child Soldiers
Worldwide there are still around 300.000 being used as armed combatants by armed groups. As soldiers they are often forced to commit and undergo horrific crimes. Their lives are determined by fear and violence.

Because the extreme circumstances under which these children are forced to live, they can not develop their lives as normal children. War Child Holland helps ex-child soldiers to return to society in a number of war zones around the world, like Uganda, Sierra Leone and Colombia.

Jackie and Vincent’s stories
Especially for the concert Jackie en Vincent have come from North Uganda to the Netherlands. Vincent appreciates the work of War Child in Uganda so much that he wrote a special rap song. He performed this song for an enthusiastic crowd.

Jackie is a project staff member of the War Child programmes in Uganda. here she helps children coping with their experiences of war and offers them a chance to a better future and personal deveklopment. Jacky knows what it feels like to become a victim of war as a child

As a fifteen year old girl Jackie was kidnapped by LRA rebels, together with 138 other girls from the Aboke girls school in Northern Uganda. A helpful nun was able to rescue 109 of these girls. But Jackie belonged to the group op 30 children who were forced to follow the rebels into the bush. Because Jackie is suffering from a kidney disease, her best friend Judith sacrificed herself to go with the rebels in her place. This signed Judith’s own death-sentence; she died in the bush. while being abducted by the rebels. Jackie spoke about her life’s experiences from the stage in Ahoy. The audience listened speechlessly to her story and gave her a long warm standing ovation.
