Canadian musicians have a long and proud history of standing up for the rights of people everywhere. Celebrating their efforts is central to get loud / plus fort. Profiles and special features about artists like Billy Talent, Avril Lavigne, K’naan and many others highlight the important contributions they are making.
But get loud / plus fort is more than just a music website. It is also a celebration of the work of ordinary Canadian youth and a call to action to others to join them. With fact sheets, field diaries and discussion boards relating to war and peace, get loud / plus fort is the go-to website for young people interested in getting plugged into the world around them.
get loud / plus fort also offers extensive resources for educators to integrate global justice issues into their classrooms. Featuring over 20 lesson plans, the site provides meaningful resources for educators from a variety of different disciplines.
Dr Samantha Nutt, War Child Executive Director: “We hope that get loud / plus fort will be a platform for all Canadians who believe that we have a responsibility to the future. It is a place for musicians and young people to come together as one in the ongoing struggle for a more just world.”
The development of get loud / plus fort was made possible through the generous support of the Canadian Culture Online Program of the Department of Canadian Heritage.
