"I did not experience the second world war myself, but we should keep on talking about war and freedom together, at school, but also at home, with parents, grandmothers and grandfathers" With these words War Child Holland ambassador Marco Borsato spoke to pupils, parents and grandparents at primary school De Zeetuin in Almere.
On the 5th of April, Marco Borsato presented the first copy of the book entitled "Freedom we make together", which was published by the National Comittee 4 and 5 May, the national WWII remembrance organisation in the Netherlands.
In a special letter, the parents of schoolchildren are stimulated to discuss 4 and 5 May and the principle of Freedom at home or the dinner table.
Later this week more than 200.000 Dutch children will receive the National Remembrance Book. War Child Holland is official partner of the National Committee 4 and 5 May, striving to keep the memories of World War 2 alive, and reminding people that Freedom is not something that comes easy.
